FR-PP V0: Material Performance and Application Analysis

FR-PP V0 is modified polypropylene compound blended with flame retardant additives to achieve UL94 V-0 fire rating. Halogen-free FR-PP V0 is the mainstream type for export markets including Malaysia, Vietnam, Russia and Bangladesh, which complies with RoHS, REACH and glow wire requirements for electrical parts.

Key Performance Characteristics

1. Flame Retardant PropertyIt meets UL94 V-0 standard at thickness of 1.6 mm or 3.2 mm. The material self‑extinguishes within 10 seconds once the ignition source is removed, and produces no flaming drips that can ignite cotton. Most halogen-free grades feature low smoke density and release less toxic gas during combustion, suitable for enclosed electrical environments. Many formulations support GWFI 850℃ and GWIT 725–775℃ glow wire performance for electrical safety certification.

2. Mechanical PerformanceIt keeps balanced rigidity and impact resistance inherited from polypropylene. Compared with ordinary PP, its shrinkage rate is well controlled, delivering stable dimensional accuracy for injection-molded components. It also maintains excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and common chemical solvents.

3. Processing & Practical AdvantagesGood melt flow for injection molding; low density helps reduce finished part weight. Halogen-free versions bring less corrosion to molds. Color options include natural, black and custom colors, with stable batch consistency for mass production.

4. LimitationsFlame retardant additives may slightly reduce toughness and heat deflection temperature versus neat PP. For ultra-high heat or heavy-load structural scenarios, glass-fiber reinforced FR-PP V0 (PP-GF FR V0) is recommended instead.
